Bombardier Continues to Contribute to Rail Modernisation in Poland
  • Bombardier’s technology on display at the Trako International Rail Fair in Gdansk
  • Latest rail control solutions set to increase connectivity
  • Gdansk, September 30, 2013 - Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation continues to be a key partner in the development of the rail infrastructure in Poland. As part of the country’s rail modernisation programme, its latest signalling projects are set to increase connectivity and interoperability across the country and within Europe.

Bombardier’s latest technology was on display at the Trako rail fair in Gdansk, from September 24 to 27. As a lead sponsor, Bombardier showcased its latest vehicle and system products including the BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 450 European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 2 solution. Also highlighted were the BOMBARDIER ZEFIRO very high speed train, BOMBARDIER TRAXX locomotives, BOMBARDIER TWINDEXX Vario double-deck coaches, as well as smart transport solutions and services from Bombardier.

The delivery of Bombardier’s INTERFLO 200 and INTERFLO 450 ERTMS rail control systems for the new 20 km Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway line in the Gdansk area will open up connections for this regional capital and seaport. The new line is set to improve links from the city’s Lech Walesa airport to its centre and to the E65 pan-European transportation corridor between Warsaw and Gdynia, on which Bombardier is also delivering its ERTMS technology.

INTERFLO 450 ERTMS technology is also being delivered on the E30 line in Poland, as part of the pilot project between Legnica and the German border. INTERFLO 200 technology is operating on the E59 Line and over 90 BOMBARDIER EBI Lock computer-based interlocking (CBI) systems have been put into operation, including the first CBI and first EBI Lock 950 CBI Release 4 in Poland. Bombardier has participated in three research projects for Polish technology since 2008, all co-financed with public funds.

Janusz Kućmin, Bombardier Transportation’s Chief Country Representative for Poland, said: “For Bombardier Transportation Poland, our growing number of projects confirms the company’s leading position in ERTMS technology in Poland. Bombardier’s sites in Poland supply state-of-the-art solutions for railways and our products perform to a very high standard in everyday operation in Poland and abroad.”

Slawomir Nalewajka, Head of Rail Control Solutions Poland, Bombardier Transportation, added: “Bombardier is committed to a high-tech railway network of European standard in Poland which will offer interconnected mobility through Poland and across Europe. Our commitment to developing the best solutions for Poland reflects the strength of our technology and experience in this market.”

Bombardier’s portfolio of rail control solutions covers the whole range of BOMBARDIER CITYFLO mass transit solutions, from manual to fully automatic, as well as communications-based systems. It also provides INTERFLO mainline solutions, from conventional to ERTMS Level 3 systems. Bombardier also provides a complete palette of wayside and onboard signalling products.
